🌿 Glow Guides
At Mindful Tanning, we believe that a radiant glow begins with mindful preparation and continues with thoughtful aftercare. Our approach enhances your natural beauty while nurturing your skin and overall well-being.
Before Your Appointment
Exfoliate Gently
Exfoliate your skin 24 hours before your session using a non-oil-based scrub or mitt. Focus on areas like elbows, knees, ankles, and heels to ensure an even tan.
Hair Removal Timing
Complete any shaving or waxing at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. This allows your skin to recover and pores to close, promoting a smoother application.Avoid Skin Barriers
On the day of your tan, avoid applying lotions, oils, deodorants, perfumes, or makeup. These can create barriers that affect the tanning solution's absorption.Schedule Beauty Treatments Ahead
Plan manicures, pedicures, facials, or massages at least 24 hours before your tanning session to prevent interference with the tanning process.Shower Smart
If you need to shower before your appointment, do so at least 4 hours in advance using cool water and no soap. This helps maintain your skin's natural pH balance.Dress Comfortably
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing and open-toed shoes to your appointment. This prevents any rubbing or smudging of the tanning solution post-application.
After Your Appointment
Initial Rinse
Follow the rinse time advised by your artist, typically between 2–8 hours post-application. Use lukewarm water only—no soap, shampoo, or conditioner—and rinse until the water runs clear.Pat Dry
Gently pat your skin dry with a towel; avoid rubbing to maintain the integrity of your tan.Moisturize Daily
After your first rinse, keep your skin hydrated with an oil-free moisturizer to prolong your tan's longevity.Avoid Moisture and Sweat
For the first 24 hours, avoid activities that cause excessive sweating or expose your skin to water, such as workouts, swimming, or saunas.Gentle Cleansing
Use mild, oil-free cleansers for your face and body. Avoid exfoliating products, brushes, or harsh chemicals that can fade your tan prematurely.Shaving and Waxing
Refrain from waxing treated areas. If necessary, gentle shaving can be done occasionally, but be mindful to avoid irritation.Protect Your Glow
Limit exposure to chlorinated water, hot tubs, and long baths, as these can cause your tan to fade more quickly.
